site owners
Remove my site.
stole.si only reads what any visitor’s browser can see, but you can still opt out. It takes two steps, with no email and no waiting.
1. Add this to your robots.txt
User-agent: StoleSi
Disallow: /
Put it in the robots.txt file at the top of your site, like https://yoursite.com/robots.txt. Your rules for other crawlers stay as they are: stole.si only follows rules that name StoleSi. To hide only part of your site, use a narrower rule like Disallow: /account/.
2. Check it here
stole.si reads your robots.txt right away. Only someone who controls your site can change that file, so this proves the request comes from you.
What happens next
- Every stored report the rule covers is deleted at once, along with its downloads.
- Every new scan reads robots.txt first. If the rule blocks the page, the scan stops before your page is opened, and people see “This site opted out”.
- A rule on
yoursite.comalso coverswww.yoursite.com. Other subdomains, likeblog.yoursite.com, have their own robots.txt and need their own rule. - Keep the rule in place. If you take it out, scans are allowed again.
Can’t edit robots.txt?
Some site builders don’t allow it. Send a removal request and include your site’s address. Your site will be added to stole.si’s removal list by hand, which blocks it and all its subdomains.
What stole.si keeps
A report holds style values, detected technologies, response headers and timings: what any visitor’s browser sees. stole.si never saves your images, text, fonts or files. The privacy page has the details.
